Classic 90 (26+2)

This class is taught by:

Noah Alvarado

I achieved a significant milestone this summer by completing my original hot yoga 26+2 training. My journey with the 26+2 series began over 15 years ago, when my mom first opened our studio in the back of our house, long before we moved to our current location. Those early days and witnessing the studio's growth ignited my passion for yoga and shaped my approach to teaching and management.

As the new manager, my goal is to ensure that our studio remains a sanctuary where everyone can find peace, strength, and community. I look forward to meeting each of you, sharing our love for yoga, and growing together on this beautiful path.

Namaste,
Noah Alvarado

I am an avid fan of the Bikram series for so many reasons. I started practicing a little over 20 years ago in a little home studio in Kenai, Alaska. I was a distance runner and never thought I would find something I loved as much as running. Nothing could replace that endorphin rush or the solitude….until my first class. I was hooked. I’ve been teaching for 8 years and find the more I learn the more I realize I don’t know anything at all. And most of what I do learn, the students teach me. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of capacities from social work to communications and recently venturing into nursing for the next phase. I love the human body; physical and mental. I think we are amazing machines and there is no better place to find all of those things we are normally too busy to notice than in a Bikram class. You can make it as mental or physical as you wish, as hard or as easy as you care to, and it is NEVER the same….IF you pay attention. The best stuff is learned in the stillness. And nothing beats that sweat. Moving my body every day allows me to enjoy the rest of everything else in my life. I look forward to a lifetime of it!

I started yoga shortly after I had my second child in hopes of getting back into shape. I quickly realized that yoga was going to be much more than a workout for me. I fell in love with learning about different styles of yoga, trying anything I could. I decided not long after to get my 500hr YTT certification. The knowledge I gained and crave every day through yoga is a gift, and I am here to share it with the world. I will forever be a student, and I am humbled to be where I am today. I fell in love with Bikram yoga and the way it made me feel mentally and physically. I can truly find my pratyahara(withdrawal of senses) in class, as well as my dharana(concentration).

I began practicing yoga in 1981 in college and completed my first RYT200 in 1999 at the Yoga School of Nichols Hills with Valerie Kit Love. A friend told me about Bikram Yoga. They recommended it to help relieve the severe knee pain I was experiencing. The only Bikram studio at that time was in Tulsa. I immediately fell in love with the heat and the meditative quality of Bikram Yoga. I attended Bikram Teacher Training Fall 2002. I have no doubt that if I hadn't taken those classes and gone to training, I was heading surgery. It has been my dream and my honor to bring this healing yoga series to OKC. As the owner of BYOKC I love creating a space where everyone feels welcome and it is accepting community for all.
Classic 90 minute class is the original set series of Bikram Hot Yoga. Students learn 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises. The class is practiced in a room heated to 105 degrees with 40% humidity. The Bikram Hot Yoga set series of postures has been taught since 1965. Class is designed for the beginner yoga student and body. All levels welcomed. It's never too late! Start anytime! Music is played on Fridays.
