I am an avid fan of the Bikram series for so many reasons. I started practicing a little over 20 years ago in a little home studio in Kenai, Alaska. I was a distance runner and never thought I would find something I loved as much as running. Nothing could replace that endorphin rush or the solitude….until my first class. I was hooked. I’ve been teaching for 8 years and find the more I learn the more I realize I don’t know anything at all. And most of what I do learn, the students teach me. I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of capacities from social work to communications and recently venturing into nursing for the next phase. I love the human body; physical and mental. I think we are amazing machines and there is no better place to find all of those things we are normally too busy to notice than in a Bikram class. You can make it as mental or physical as you wish, as hard or as easy as you care to, and it is NEVER the same….IF you pay attention. The best stuff is learned in the stillness. And nothing beats that sweat. Moving my body every day allows me to enjoy the rest of everything else in my life. I look forward to a lifetime of it!
