Yin Yoga

This class is taught by:

Kayla Meyer

I started yoga shortly after I had my second child in hopes of getting back into shape. I quickly realized that yoga was going to be much more than a workout for me. I fell in love with learning about different styles of yoga, trying anything I could. I decided not long after to get my 500hr YTT certification. The knowledge I gained and crave every day through yoga is a gift, and I am here to share it with the world. I will forever be a student, and I am humbled to be where I am today. I fell in love with Bikram yoga and the way it made me feel mentally and physically. I can truly find my pratyahara(withdrawal of senses) in class, as well as my dharana(concentration).

I began practicing yoga in 2020 and quickly knew I wanted to become a yoga instructor. As I began to deepen my practice, I decided to go through my YTT 200 in January 2024. This has been an amazing journey of healing, meditation and holding space for others. I have fallen in love with the practice and I am extremely blessed to be able to share this with my community. I currently teach Yin yoga at Bikram Yoga which is a slow and meditative practice targeting the bodies deep connective tissues. I also teach power yoga and vinyasa flow. Yin has been an extremely transformative practice allowing the mind and body to truly connect and deepen, giving space to sit in your breath and body and slow down from external forces around you.
Yin yoga works on the deepest tissues of our body, our connective tissues. It is considered a passive yoga practice, and students are encouraged to find stillness and relax their muscles in a series of poses held for a long duration. Yin yoga works on the ligaments, joints, bones, the deep fascia networks of the body, along with the energetic pathways known as the meridians. It is a perfect partnership with our Yang practice Bikram Yoga or other cardio and strength-building regimes. Great way to prepare for the following express class!

It is recommended to bring your yoga props if you have them. Poses can be practiced with and without props.
